Description: On the 3rd of July 2025, the students of Class 5 from St. Karen’s Primary School
experienced a memorable and enriching day amidst nature at Tarumitra – fondly
known as the “lungs of Patna.”
Tarumitra, a serene green sanctuary, welcomed the young Karenians with open arms
and refreshing air. Surrounded by lush greenery and thick vegetation, the students
embarked on a beautiful nature walk, inhaling pure air, treading softly into the fields,
and exploring the wonders of nature first hand.
The walk served not only as a breath of fresh air but also as a live classroom, where
students learned how seeds transform into trees, the process of plantation, and the
importance of soil mixing. Their eyes sparkled with awe and wonder as they
witnessed the miracle of life taking root in the soil.
A special highlight of the visit was the interaction with the inspiring Director and
founder, Father Tommy, along with Dr. Fr Robert and Ms. Debopriya, who graciously
shared the vision and history of Tarumitra. Their words echoed the deep-rooted love
and commitment towards preserving nature and sustainability.
Adding to the vibrancy of the day, the students actively participated in promoting
social awareness under the theme of Van Mahotsav – The National Forest Festival.
Through handmade posters, drawings, captivating slogans, songs, street plays
(nukkad natak), prayers, and oaths, they creatively expressed their commitment to
conserving forests and natural resources.
A delicious homemade lunch and engaging moments at the selfie booths added
more joy and colour to the day, leaving the students and staff of Tarumitra equally
delighted.
The slight drizzle during the visit only added a magical touch to the experience. It
was truly a day away from the classroom – a day of discovery, joy, learning, and
connecting with Mother Earth. This nature walk will forever remain etched in the
hearts of our students as a meaningful memory and a reminder of their responsibility
towards the environment.
